BDSM contacts in Glasgow
Glasgow is the third biggest pool in Britain and by some distance the most direct. A copied opener gets nothing back and a bio full of adjectives gets less. People say what they want in a sentence and expect the same in return, which makes the board easier to read than its size suggests. It is also small enough that a screenshot travels, so frankness and discretion turn up in the same post.
Posts come from the west end, the south side, the east end, the city centre and out towards Lanarkshire. On an app that is a radius setting. Here people say it in words.
Dominant in Glasgow
Leading, and saying in the post what that actually means to them.

I do the driving, every time, and I would like that noticed rather than repaid
Looking for: somebody who lives wherever they live and says so plainly
Thirteen years, two dynamics, both of them long distance by local standards.
I live outside the city and I do the travelling. All of it. That is not a complaint and it is not a favour I am banking. It is simply the arrangement that works, because I have a car and a driveway and nobody else in the house, and most of the people I have been involved with have had none of those things.

I will not match with anybody who works in the same trade as me
Looking for: somebody whose working life does not overlap with mine at any point
Fifteen years, three dynamics, all of them discreet.
I work in a trade that is small in this city and gossipy everywhere. So I do not match with anybody in it, and if it emerges later I say so and stop, without any suggestion that either of us has done something wrong.
Submissive in Glasgow
Submitting, on terms set out before anyone opens a conversation.

I skipped a good profile because we knew three of the same people
Looking for: somebody at least one step removed from everybody I know
Four years, one dynamic of a year.
Last month a profile came up that was the best written thing I have seen on here in a year, and I swiped past it, because I recognised the background of one photograph and worked out within about a minute that we know at least three of the same people. That is Glasgow. The pool is big enough to have options and small enough that half of them come attached to somebody who will hear about it.

Three months on the paid tier and it changed nothing at all
Looking for: the thing a subscription does not buy, which is somebody reading properly
Three years, one dynamic of five months.
I paid for three months of the upper tier. The boost, unlimited likes, the panel that shows who has already liked you. My reply rate did not move by anything I could measure, and I am saying so out loud because I bought it believing I had a visibility problem.
Switch in Glasgow
Both directions, and looking for someone who can follow the change.

I am on this thing between ten at night and one in the morning, and nowhere else
Looking for: somebody whose free hours happen to be the same strange ones
Five years, two arrangements, both around a rota.
Ten at night until about one. That is when I exist on here, four nights out of seven, and it makes my last active time look like somebody with a problem. It is a back shift. I get home, I eat, and that is the only stretch of the day that belongs to me.
-
Two photographs on my profile and neither of them shows my face
Looking for: somebody who will meet early rather than ask for more pictures
Twelve years, three arrangements, all of them private.
Two photographs, both accurate, neither with my face in it. The app tells me weekly that my profile is incomplete and it is almost certainly showing me to fewer people because of it. That is the trade and I made it deliberately.
-
There is a second phone and that is the entire security arrangement
Looking for: somebody who does not need me reachable at all hours
Seven years, two arrangements, one of them ongoing.
The app lives on a second phone that stays in a drawer and gets picked up in the evening. That is the whole system. No renaming, no folders, no clever settings that a software update will quietly reverse.
Curious in Glasgow
Downloaded something, has not decided yet, and is honest about it.

My wife knows I am on here, and that is the only reason I am
Looking for: people who have been where I am now, to talk to and nothing else
None of my own. A long marriage and one very honest year.
My wife knows. She knows what I am reading, she knows I made a profile, and she read this post before I put it up. That is the only condition under which I would be here at all, and it took a year of conversations to get to it.

The sign up made me choose and I think I chose the wrong word
Looking for: somebody who will help me work it out without deciding it for me
None. Two months on the app and no conclusions.
The sign up would not let me past until I picked one of four words. I sat there for a genuinely long time and then chose one because the screen would not go away. It has been on my profile ever since, it is probably wrong, and I have no idea how a person would find out other than by doing something about it.

Fifty one, and half the words on this app I have had to look up
Looking for: patience with somebody who is starting from absolutely nothing
None. Three months on here and a browser full of tabs.
Half the words on this app I have had to look up, and looking them up mostly produced more words. It took me five weeks to work out that a match is not a message. I have accidentally hidden my own profile twice and sent the same thing to somebody three times because I could not tell whether it had gone.
Before you write your own
Reading the board tells you what lands. These four decisions happen before you write a word.
- The same person, compressed into an app bio
- Honest and anonymous are two separate dials
- A handle nothing about you comes back from
- What a photo says before anybody reads the words
