I work in a trade that is small in this city and gossipy everywhere. So I do not match with anybody in it, and if it emerges later I say so and stop, without any suggestion that either of us has done something wrong.
This has cost me at least two people I liked. It has also meant that in fifteen years nothing I have done has ever come back to me at work, and I know three men for whom that is not true. One of them had to leave a job over nothing more than a rumour that was substantially accurate and none of anybody's business.
Fifty one, the south side, dominant, fifteen years in.
The awkward part is that the app gives you no way to check. Nobody puts their employer on a profile and nor should they. So it comes out in conversation, usually in week two, and by then somebody is often already invested.
What I want is an ongoing arrangement with written expectations and a fixed evening. Terms agreed slowly. Reporting between. Not looking for anybody who wants to be seen out. Not looking for a person who thinks discretion means somebody at home, because there is not one and has not been for years.
