patient_hands Opened it #1
Ran a small experiment since January and figured the results might save someone three months. I kept notes on every opener I sent. Forty one first messages, eleven replies, three conversations that went anywhere real. The three that worked all did the same thing: they picked one specific detail from the profile and asked one easy question about it.
The one I’m proudest of: she wrote that she was learning floor work and hated every tutorial she’d tried. I asked which tutorial she hated most and what it got wrong. Reply came in twenty minutes and we talked for two hours. Coffee happened the next weekend.
The ones that sank: anything opening with a compliment, anything longer than four sentences, and every single bare “hey”. I sent eleven of those early on as a control group. Zero replies. The data is in.
So let’s crowdsource it. What’s the best opener you’ve sent or received, actual wording if you remember it? And did it hold up after the first exchange?
