Whatever it learned in my first fortnight, it has never let go of
- Looking for
- somebody who found this post rather than being handed my profile
- Experience
- Thirteen years, two dynamics, both of them slow to start.
- Around
- the inner city, Sydney
In my first fortnight on this app I swiped the way everybody swipes at the beginning, which is quickly and without much thought. Whatever the thing behind it learned in those two weeks, it has held onto ever since. Two years later I am still being shown the same narrow band of people and, more to the point, still being shown to them.
I know this because I made a second profile as an experiment, filled it in identically, behaved differently for a week, and got an entirely different queue. Same city, same words, same photographs. The only variable was fourteen days of taps I made before I had thought about any of it.
Forty five, the inner city, dominant, thirteen years in. Two dynamics, both slow, both long, neither of them started with anything that felt like a spark.
I am writing here rather than relying on the stack because a post is the one part of this that is not sorted for me. If you have read this far, you chose to, and that is already a better filter than anything the app has offered me in two years.
What I want is a submissive who wants steadiness rather than intensity. Standing expectations that do not change with my mood. Attention that lasts past the novelty. Not looking for somebody who needs a title in week one. Not looking to perform any of this in writing. Not looking for a person who is here to be impressed.
