My profile says partnered in the first line and half the board stops there

Posted as partnered_line_one, 8 September 2026

Looking for
people who have been where I am, to talk to and nothing else
Experience
None of my own. Two years of watching somebody I love do this well.
Around
the north shore, Sydney

The first line of my profile says that I am partnered, that she knows I am here, and that nothing is happening without her. Roughly half the people who open it stop reading at that point, which is fine and entirely their business. The other half often assume it is a code for something it is not.

My partner has been doing this since long before we met and has been completely open about it since our second month. Nothing has been hidden and nothing has been sprung on me. Two years in I have moved from politely tolerant to genuinely curious, and I am here with her knowledge to find out whether the curiosity is mine or borrowed.

Thirty seven, the north shore, no experience of my own. That distinction matters more than anything else I could write. I do not want to arrive at this because somebody I love wants me to, and she has been frustratingly careful about not pushing, which leaves me having to ask people who are not her.

What I want is conversation. People who came to this later in life. People who tried it and decided against it, honestly, since I have read a hundred accounts of falling in love with it and almost none of the other kind.

Not looking to meet anybody for anything. Not looking for advice about my relationship. Not looking for a person who wants to be the one who shows me.

What to have sorted before you reply

If this one reads like your own head rather than somebody to answer, the tactics can wait. These three all happen before there is a first match to get wrong.
