I recognised the room behind him before I recognised him

Posted as recognised_the_kitchen, 23 August 2026

Looking for
somebody I have not already met through somebody else
Experience
Five years, two arrangements, both of them short.
Around
the west end, Glasgow

A profile came up in February with a photograph taken in a kitchen I have stood in. I did not recognise the man. I recognised the room, because I had been at a party in that flat about six years ago, and it took me the better part of an evening to work out whose flat it had been and therefore who he probably was.

Nothing happened. I did not swipe either way and I have not seen him since. What it did was change how I read this whole board. I had been treating an app as a way of meeting strangers, and it is not, not here. It is a way of being shown the people who are already two steps away from you and finding out which ones you had not met yet.

Thirty five, the west end, submissive, five years in.

I do not think that is bad. It just means the etiquette has to be different: no discussing anybody by name, no screenshots, and a clean sentence when you decide against somebody rather than a silence they will hear about from a third party.

What I want is an ongoing arrangement with standing rules and a fixed evening. Not looking for anybody who treats this board as anonymous, because it plainly is not. Not looking to be discussed.
