Fifty nine, two years off everything, and starting again with a phone
- Looking for
- patience with somebody who knows the subject and not the software
- Experience
- Twenty years, then two years of nothing at all.
- Around
- the west end, Glasgow
I was ill for the better part of two years and off everything, and when I came back in the spring the whole apparatus had changed. Different app, different layout, a paid tier that did not exist before, and an entire etiquette that everybody else had apparently agreed on while I was away.
The subject itself I still know. Twenty years does not evaporate. It was the machinery that defeated me, and it took a fortnight to work out that my old account had effectively been buried for inactivity and that starting fresh would have been quicker.
Fifty nine, the west end, switch, twenty years in with a hole in the middle of it, and three arrangements before the gap, the longest of which ran nine years. I am well now, and I am not going to make the illness the subject of anything, but it is the reason for the gap and I would rather say so than be vague about it.
What I want is an arrangement with somebody who has also been at this a long time and is not looking for novelty. I lead and I follow, I know which I want when, and I am past proving anything to anybody.
Not looking for anybody who wants to be my way back into a social life. Not looking to be told the gap has made me rusty. Not looking for a person who cannot tolerate a plain question about how something works.
