I am about an hour out. Everybody says that is fine at the start. In four years nobody has made the trip twice. It is always the same shape: the first meeting happens because a first meeting is exciting enough to justify anything, the second one gets negotiated, and by the fourth week we are having a polite conversation about whose turn it is.
The app is no help here. It gives a distance in miles, which in this direction is meaningless, and it puts me in the queue of people in town who have thirty options inside a fifteen minute walk. I do not blame any of them. If I lived there I would probably do the same.

So I would rather you said it was a lot and that you were willing anyway, than said it was nothing and discovered otherwise in March. I do a fair share of the travelling myself and I have never once complained about it.
What I want is a fortnightly arrangement with a shape that holds up between visits. Things I do daily, reporting, a check in that does not need us in the same room. Not looking for anybody who wants to see how it goes. Not looking for a person who will make the drive once, for the story.
