A coffee inside two weeks or I close the conversation
- Looking for
- somebody who can find one hour in fourteen days
- Experience
- Sixteen years, four dynamics, all begun quickly.
- Around
- the east end, Glasgow
Two weeks from first message to sitting down somewhere public, or I stop. I say it in message two so nobody is surprised, and I do not carry a conversation on in the background while pretending otherwise.
The rule exists because I once wrote to somebody for seven months. Excellent writing, real warmth, three agreed dates that all fell through for reasons that were individually plausible and collectively a pattern. She was not lying to me. She simply liked the correspondence more than she wanted the thing, and I liked it too, and neither of us said so.
Fifty, the east end, dominant, sixteen years in. Every dynamic I have had that worked began with a meeting inside a fortnight, and I do not think urgency is romantic. I think a person in a room is a different quantity of information from a person in a chat window, and no amount of typing converts one into the other.
What I want afterwards is a structured ongoing arrangement with somebody who has room in their life for it.
Not looking for a pen pal, however good. Not looking for anybody whose diary is genuinely full for a month, which is a fine reason and simply not compatible with me. Not looking to be told that two weeks is a lot to ask in a city this small.
