I am on this app between about half past five and half past six in the morning, in the dark, with the heater on and a coffee going cold. It is the only hour of my day that belongs to me. By seven the house is awake and by eight I am at work, and from then until I fall asleep I am somebody's employee, somebody's neighbour, somebody's lift.
This makes me look like a ghost. My replies arrive in the small hours, my last active time is odd, and I have been asked twice whether I live overseas. I do not. I live about forty minutes west of the city and my day starts before most people have set an alarm.
Thirty nine, out west, switch, four years in, one long arrangement that ended last spring for perfectly ordinary reasons.
What I want is somebody who is genuinely fine with an early rhythm. Weekday mornings are my whole available life. I can do a great deal in an hour if it is planned, and almost nothing at all if it depends on spontaneity. I lead in one context and follow in another and I am happy to explain which is which properly rather than in a chat window.
Not looking for anybody who wants a Friday night. Not looking to be told I should simply stay up later, which I cannot. And not looking for a person who reads a reply sent at six in the morning as a red flag.
