My bio is in my second language and it makes me sound like a form
- Looking for
- somebody patient with a sentence that comes out sideways
- Experience
- Ten years, most of it in another country.
- Around
- Queens, New York
In my own language I am funny. In English I am a set of correct sentences, and every bio I have written on here comes out reading like an application form. That gap is the single hardest thing about doing this in the city I moved to, and it has nothing to do with kink at all.
Thirty eight, Queens, here for six years, ten years in this and most of them elsewhere. I know what I am doing. I have run long arrangements in both directions and I can negotiate properly, and none of that survives translation into a profile with a character limit.
So this post is longer than it should be, because length is the only tool I have left. What I want is an ongoing dynamic, either direction, with somebody who will let a conversation go slightly slower while I find the right word. In person I am much better than I am here. The words come when there is a face attached to them.
I am not asking anybody to be a teacher. My English is good. It is just not funny, and I have discovered that on an app, funny is most of what a first message is made of.
Not looking for anyone who wants to correct me, which happened for a whole month with somebody who thought he was being helpful. Not looking to explain where I am from in the first three messages. Not looking for a person who wants an accent as a feature.
