Twenty first meetings in two years and almost no second ones

The first meeting is the part this city is good at. Everybody is charming, everybody is well dressed, an hour goes by pleasantly and we both say we should do this again. Then the second one has to be arranged around real weeks and real jobs and it never happens. Twenty of those in two years. I have become extremely good at first meetings and it has got me nowhere at all.
Thirty seven, dominant, I do sound work, South Beach, six years in this. One arrangement that ran a year and a half and taught me that the good part starts around week ten, well after anybody has stopped performing.
So I am asking for something slightly unromantic. If the first hour goes well, put the second one in the calendar before we leave. Not because I am rigid about it but because the alternative has a proven record of producing nothing.
What I run is calm and quite ordinary. Structure, agreed expectations, a standing evening, and a good deal of talking. I am not looking for anybody who wants an event. I am not looking for anybody who needs to be pursued. And I am not looking for the person who is very keen for four days, because I have met all twenty of them.
