I want the same evening every week and this app cannot cope with that
- Looking for
- somebody who can commit to one recurring evening for six months
- Experience
- Eight years, two arrangements, both of them weekly for years.
- Around
- the east side, Los Angeles
The single hardest thing to find on here is not a compatible person. It is anybody willing to put a recurring commitment in their week. I have proposed it to perhaps twenty people over two years, and the reaction is almost always a small flinch: enthusiasm about everything else, and then a careful sentence about not wanting to be tied to a fixed night. Something about this place trains people out of recurrence.
Forty three, the east side, submissive, eight years in. Two arrangements, four years and three years, both built on exactly one evening a week and both of them the best things in my life at the time.
I am not asking for a marriage. I am asking whether a Tuesday for six months is imaginable, because that is how the thing I want is actually made. Structure comes from repetition. You cannot get there with a series of well spaced surprises, and I have watched several people try.
I am easy company, I cook, I am reliable to a degree people find funny, and I am happiest when somebody else is deciding.
Not looking for spontaneity as a governing principle. Not looking for anything intense that runs for five weeks and then dissolves without a conversation. And not looking to negotiate the recurring evening down to a fortnightly one by month three, which has now happened twice.
