I live outside, and the app shows me people who never come out
- Looking for
- somebody who is genuinely willing to leave zone two occasionally
- Experience
- Four years, one dynamic of a year, entirely conducted at my end.
- Around
- the commuter belt, London
Everything I am shown is central, because that is where the people are, and almost none of it is reachable in the way that matters. I can be in the middle of town in fifty minutes. Getting somebody to come the other way, at the end of their working day, to a place they have never been, is a completely different proposition and roughly nobody does it twice.
Forty seven, the commuter belt, submissive, four years in, and my one real arrangement ended largely because I did every mile of it.
So this post is aimed at a small group: people who are already outside, or people who like being out of the city and mean it rather than saying it. I am not asking anybody to move. I am asking for an honest answer about how often you would actually do the journey, given the hour it would end at.
What I want is a proper structured dynamic, fortnightly in person if that is what the geography allows, with real contact and standing expectations in the weeks between so it does not become a series of visits.
Not looking for anybody who is going to be enthusiastic about the countryside for six weeks. Not looking to be the one who always travels, again. And not looking for a conversation that fades the moment I say how long the journey takes.
