The most direct board in the country and everybody still disappears

Posted as blunt_then_vanish, 13 September 2026

Looking for
one person who will finish a conversation they started
Experience
Nine years, two arrangements, one of them four years.
Around
the city centre, Glasgow

This is the most straightforward board I have used anywhere. People say what they want in a sentence, nobody wastes your time with adjectives, and a copied opener gets nothing back. And yet the single most common way a conversation ends here is that somebody simply stops replying, mid exchange, having been perfectly direct for a fortnight.

I have thought about that contradiction a lot. My conclusion is that being blunt about what you want and being able to say an unwelcome thing to a specific person are completely different skills, and this city is excellent at the first and no better than anywhere else at the second.

Forty two, the city centre, dominant, nine years in, two arrangements and the longer of them ran four years and ended in a single conversation over a Sunday afternoon.

So I ask for one thing at the start. If you decide against me, say so. One line, no reason needed. I will not argue and I will not write again, and I will do exactly the same for you.

What I want otherwise is an ongoing arrangement with terms agreed properly, a fixed evening and reporting between. Not looking for a pen pal. Not looking for anybody who reappears after three weeks as though nothing had happened.

What to have sorted before you reply

Answering this one means being screened and doing some screening. Two checks survive a confident opener, and one platform is where a real one has already left a trail.
