No photograph, a profile written in careful second language English, an account made this year, and messages arriving at odd hours because of shift work. I understand precisely what that looks like from the other side. Three people have asked me to prove I am real: one politely, one at length, and one by demanding a picture of me holding a piece of paper, which I found funny for about a minute.
Twenty nine, Kreuzberg, curious, here since the winter and nothing arranged yet.
What I offer instead is a short video call, camera on, at a time that suits, and I will go first. What I will not do is send anything that can be saved, because I work somewhere that would take a photograph of me on an application like this extremely badly, and no amount of good faith on your part changes what happens to a file once it exists.
As for what I actually want, I am undecided. Something ongoing rather than an evening. Rules I have to keep. I would rather work it out in a conversation than invent a position now to sound decisive.
Not looking for anybody who treats a missing face as a confession. Not looking for a person who needs images before they will speak. And not looking to be asked again in month three once we know each other, because the answer is fixed.
