Not sure what I want from this thread. Sympathy probably, and to know how common it is.

Arranged to meet someone on Thursday evening. Two and a half weeks of good conversation beforehand, both keen, she picked the place. Confirmed it Wednesday night, she sent a message that morning saying she was looking forward to it.

I got there ten minutes early because I am like that. Sat with a coffee. At twenty past I messaged. At half past I messaged again. At forty minutes I left.

Nothing. Not that day, not since. Profile is still up. No unmatch, no block, just nothing at all.

The strange part is I am not even angry, I am just embarrassed, which does not make any sense because the entire staff of that cafe was not watching me and did not care.

Has this happened to people? Is there anything you do differently afterwards, or is it just a thing that happens sometimes and you keep going?

What the playbook says about this

The threads here agree on more than they let on: a short call first, a public place second, and your own way home. The one nobody argues about is the third, which is what you hand over and when.

  • Fifteen minutes that settle everything
  • A meeting point that gives nothing away
  • The staged way to trade contact details
