Mid sized city, been on the app since the autumn. For about two months now it has been showing me what feels like the same twenty profiles on a loop. Not literally the same, but I recognise them. There is a woman with the greenhouse photos. There is a guy who wrote his bio as a numbered list. I have seen them both so many times they are practically neighbours.
Here is the bit I cannot work out. Is the local pool actually that small, or is the sort stuck and there are people out there the app has decided not to show me? Because those are very different problems and I would handle them differently. If the pool is small I need to widen the distance and accept some driving. If it is the sort, I would rather fix that than start commuting for coffee.
Has anyone actually got to the bottom of this? Not theories about algorithms, ideally, just what changed for you when the feed went stale.
