My opening messages run four paragraphs and I am not going to stop
- Looking for
- one person, ongoing, interested in habit rather than event
- Experience
- Sixteen years, two long dynamics, both ended reasonably.
- Around
- downtown, Toronto
I send first messages that run to four paragraphs. I have been told this is intense, twice been told it is a warning sign, and I have decided to keep doing it and to explain myself in public instead.
A short opener asks the other person to do all the work. It puts the burden of being interesting on somebody who owes me nothing at all. If I have read your profile and something in it is worth writing about, then writing about it costs me ten minutes and tells you more about how my head works than any photograph ever will.
The people who find it too much are not being unreasonable. They are telling me something useful in the first exchange, and I would far rather know in the first exchange.
Forty six, dominant, downtown, sixteen years in, two long dynamics, both of which ended reasonably. I have never once had a dynamic that began from a message saying hi.
What I want is one person, ongoing, weekly, with a structure that covers the days we do not see each other. I am interested in habit rather than event. If your picture of this is a Saturday night with a plan attached, I am the wrong man and there are better ones here.
I work an ordinary week, I am free most evenings, and I do not vanish for a month at a time.
I am not a treatment, and I would rather not be anybody's course of it.
