I am awake and reading this at four in the morning, alone
- Looking for
- somebody whose clock is as strange as mine
- Experience
- Five years, two dynamics, both worn down by my hours rather than anything else.
- Around
- Wynwood, Miami
The app has a rhythm and I am outside all of it. I finish at three in the morning, I am wide awake until seven, and by the time anybody in this city is opening their phone I am asleep with the blinds taped shut. Everything I write gets read eleven hours later, which turns every exchange into letters sent by ship.
Thirty eight, submissive, freight and ramp work at the airport, Wynwood, and my schedule is not a phase I am going to grow out of. Five years in this, two dynamics that both quietly starved on logistics rather than on feeling.
What I would like is somebody who either keeps hours like mine or genuinely does not mind the lag. Nurses, cooks, drivers, people who work nights, retired people who are up early anyway. I am reliable, I am tidy, I do what I say I will do, and I am at my best with a clear instruction and a deadline.
What kills it every time is somebody who reads a slow reply as a lack of interest and starts keeping score. I am not playing anything. I was at work. I would also rather not be told that I should change jobs, which two people have now suggested as though it were a small thing rather than my entire income.
