My flatmate and I keep appearing in each other's queues

Posted as flatmate_same_app, 27 August 2026

Looking for
somebody outside my very small overlapping circle
Experience
Two years, one short arrangement, a lot of learning.
Around
South Beach, Miami

We share a two bedroom place and apparently we share a queue. Her profile has come up for me twice and mine has come up for her at least once, and last month we worked out that we had both talked to the same man in the same fortnight without either of us knowing. We laughed about it. Then we sat on the balcony and both felt slightly ill, because the pool near us is evidently about the size of a bus.

Twenty five, switch, I work in a print studio, South Beach, two years in this and one arrangement that lasted a season.

The practical result is that I am careful now about what I say and to whom. Not out of shame. We are entirely open with each other. It is that a small overlapping circle means a story travels, and I would like to have my own things.

What I am after is somebody outside all of that. Both directions, taken slowly, with a lot of talking first. I am new enough to want somebody with more experience and stubborn enough not to want to be taught in a way that involves being told what I am. And please do not ask me anything about my flatmate, which has already happened and was not charming.

What to have sorted before you reply

Which direction is on the table this month is not in the post, and asking flat out reads badly. That takes a conversation, and a conversation needs a room you can walk out of.
