I look at this once a week, on a Sunday, and only then
- Looking for
- somebody with the patience for a weekly correspondent
- Experience
- Twelve years, three arrangements, none of them started on an app.
- Around
- Coral Gables, Miami
Sunday morning, coffee, one hour, and then it goes back in the folder until the following week. I have done it this way for two years and I am not going to be talked out of it. It means I miss things. It also means I have never once sent a message I regretted, and that I do not spend my evenings refreshing a screen like a man waiting for test results.
Thirty nine, switch, I do accounts for restaurants, Coral Gables, twelve years in this and none of it started here. Three arrangements, the longest five years, all of them from before any of this was on a phone.
So the person who suits me writes properly and once. Long messages are welcome and will be answered thoughtfully seven days later. If that is intolerable, and for many people it obviously is, no hard feelings at all.
What I want is a slow arrangement with somebody local, both directions, meeting perhaps every other week once it is established. I do not want daily contact. I do not want to be asked why I did not see something. And I do not want anybody who is going to interpret the weekly rhythm as coldness, because I am not cold, I am simply not available to a phone.
