I read about this for a year before I put anything on my phone
- Looking for
- a slow, plain conversation with somebody unhurried
- Experience
- None in practice. A year of reading and no conversations.
- Around
- Coral Gables, Miami
The app went on the phone in February and before that there was a year of reading. Books, forums, long arguments between strangers about consent and about vocabulary, and eventually the realisation that reading was a way of approaching this that never required me to say anything to a human being. So the app is the first thing I have done rather than studied, and I have used it exactly twice.
Forty five, I run a small bookkeeping practice, Coral Gables, married for a long time and divorced for three years. No experience at all beyond my own head.
I know a great deal in the way that somebody who has read about swimming knows about swimming. That is worth something and I am not going to pretend it is worth much. What I would like is to talk to somebody who has actually done this, at whatever pace suits them, without any assumption that talking leads anywhere in particular.
I am not here for an evening and I am not here to be initiated into anything. I am here because a year of reading has left me with about nine questions I cannot answer from a book, and because I would rather ask a person than spend a second year at it. If that sounds like extremely slow going, it is, and I am at peace with that.
