I met my best friend in this because we were swiping in one room
- Looking for
- people to know in this as well as somebody to do it with
- Experience
- Three years, one short dynamic, and a great many good conversations.
- Around
- downtown, Los Angeles
We were in a waiting room and I glanced sideways at the wrong moment and recognised the layout of the screen. She caught me looking, I went scarlet, and instead of the sensible thing we both started laughing. That was two years ago and she is now the person I ask about everything, which is a strange way to acquire a friend and the single most useful thing this application has given me.
Thirty two, downtown, switch, three years in, one short dynamic and a lot of long conversations.
I mention it because I want to say plainly that I am looking for two things and they are not the same thing. One is an arrangement with structure, in either direction, ongoing rather than occasional. The other is simply people who do this, to talk to, who are not also assessing whether they want to sleep with me.
That second one is nearly impossible to ask for on an app built entirely around the first, which is why it is in this post.
Not looking for anybody who treats wanting friends as a euphemism. Not looking to be somebody's practice run. And if we talk for a month and it becomes obvious we are not a match for the first thing, I would genuinely like to keep the second, and I have found that people find that suggestion baffling.
