I want to hear about a normal Tuesday, not the interesting bits
- Looking for
- an honest account of what this actually looks like week to week
- Experience
- None. Eight months of reading the wrong things.
- Around
- the commuter belt, London
Everything I can find describes the exceptional moments. What I want to know about is the rest of it. What does a Tuesday look like. What happens when one of you is ill, or busy, or has had a terrible week and cannot be bothered with any of it. How does anybody keep a structure going through an ordinary November when both people work.
Thirty six, the commuter belt, no experience, eight months of reading and a strong suspicion that I have been reading the wrong material.
I ask because I think the ordinary version is the part I actually want, and I cannot tell from the outside whether it exists or whether it is a thing I have constructed out of wishful thinking. Nobody writes about the maintenance.
So I would like to talk to somebody who has run something for years and is willing to be boring about it. Genuinely boring. The logistics, the drift, the renegotiations, the weeks where nothing happens.
I am not asking for a tutorial and I am not looking to start anything immediately. Not looking for anybody who wants to describe scenes to me. Not looking to be impressed. And not looking for a person who would find that request disappointing, because it is the whole of what I am here for.
