One question after three months of reading, asked in public

Posted as came_to_ask, 29 August 2026

Looking for
direction rather than service, and somebody who knows the difference
Experience
None at all, and fifty five years of not mentioning it.
Around
the west end, Toronto

Three months of reading this board and I have one question, so I am going to ask it in public and see what comes back. Is there a version of this for a person who does not want to be hurt and does not want to hurt anybody, or am I in the wrong place entirely?

Fifty five, west end, widowed three years ago after a long and good marriage, and lately thinking about something I never once mentioned to her.

What I want, as best I can put it, is to be looked after by somebody who takes charge of the practical parts of my life. What I eat. When I go to bed. Whether I have done the things I have been avoiding since the spring. That is the whole picture. Nothing in it involves pain and I do not believe it ever will.

Every time I have tried to look this up I have landed somewhere that assumes otherwise, which is why I am asking a person instead of a page.

I am also aware that a man my age writing this could look like somebody after a housekeeper with extra steps. I know the difference. I am not asking to be served. I am asking to be directed, which is nearly the opposite.

A house, a garden that has got away from me, two grown children and a great deal of quiet.

If this one reads like your own head rather than somebody to answer, the tactics can wait. These three all happen before there is a first match to get wrong.
