I answer in voice notes, and a third of people find that intolerable
- Looking for
- somebody my age or older with patience for a beginner who is not a beginner
- Experience
- Twenty years, two marriages, and one direction I have never tried.
- Around
- the east end, Toronto
I answer in voice notes. Not because I imagine anybody is longing for them, but because I am fifty seven, typing anything of substance takes me the better part of an hour with two fingers, and I have decided an hour is too much of a remaining evening to spend on it.
Roughly a third of people find it charming, a third find it intrusive, and the rest never reply at all, which is about the ordinary ratio here anyway.
Fifty seven, east end, twenty years in and out of this. Two marriages, the second ended six years ago, and all of it was present in both of them in ways neither of us ever discussed properly.
Direction: I have led for most of my life, and in the last three or four years I have wanted the other thing badly enough to say so out loud, which took a while to get to. I am not good at it. I am specifically bad at being still, and I am told that is the whole skill.
What I want is somebody around my age or older with the patience to run something with a beginner who is not a beginner. That confuses people, so I will spell it out: I know how this works, I know what to ask and what to look for, I have simply never been on that side of it.
House, no shared walls, grown children who live elsewhere.
