I unmatched somebody and sat two seats from her at a wedding in April
- Looking for
- somebody who can be turned down gracefully and turn me down the same way
- Experience
- Six years, two dynamics, one of them three years.
- Around
- Salford, Manchester
I unmatched a woman in January, without a word, because I had decided against it and could not think what to say. In April I sat two seats away from her at a wedding, for four hours, and we were both extremely pleasant about it and neither of us mentioned anything.
That afternoon cured me permanently of the silent exit. It costs nothing while you are doing it and then it sits in a room with you, six months later, over a plate of food, in front of forty people.
Thirty eight, Salford, submissive, six years in, one dynamic that ran three years and ended in a conversation that took an evening and left nothing unsaid.
So my one line now is: I have enjoyed this and I am not going to take it further, all the best. No reason, because a reason invites an argument. I have sent it perhaps thirty times since and not one of those has produced anything worse than a short sulk.
What I want is an ongoing arrangement with a fixed evening and standing expectations. Not looking for anybody who disappears rather than saying a difficult sentence. Not looking for a person who needs an explanation for everything. And not looking to be somebody's fourth open conversation, which in this city means holding up somebody I probably know.
