I have read your profile before, under a different name, on another app
- Looking for
- somebody who wrote their own profile, however badly
- Experience
- Eleven years, three dynamics, one of them ongoing as a friendship.
- Around
- the east, London
There is a paragraph going around. I have now seen it, more or less word for word, on four profiles belonging to four different people, and I have seen my own opening line come back to me under somebody else's photograph. It is well written, which is why it spreads. It also means that a fair number of the people writing to me are quoting a stranger at me and hoping I have not read the original.
Forty six, the east, dominant, eleven years in, three arrangements and one of them now a long friendship.
I do not think most of them are being dishonest exactly. Writing about yourself is hard, everybody is competing with everybody, and copying something good feels like borrowing a suit. But I select on how somebody writes, so a borrowed paragraph tells me nothing at all, and a clumsy honest one tells me everything.
What I run is a structured ongoing arrangement: agreed expectations, a weekly evening, real tasks, and honesty about what is not working.
So write badly at me. Genuinely. Not looking for anybody performing a version of themselves they read somewhere. Not looking for a submissive who wants to be told what they want. And not looking for the person whose profile is a list of things they have seen other people list.
